Fatima Tokhmafshan, McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, Canada

Fatima Tokhmafshan (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9386-5537) is a geneticist and bioethicist at the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre. She works with Dr. Paul Goodyer on identifying new therapies for hereditary renal diseases such as cystinosis, cystinuria, distal renal tubular acidosis, etc.

She completed her B.Sc. at York University, submitting a thesis on genetics of circadian rhythms in Neurospora crassa. She then completed her graduate degree at McGill, focusing on the genetics of kidney development and disease. She has authored multiple publications, collaborated on a number of successful grant applications, and is a the current holder of a grant from the Kidney Foundation of Canada. She is passionate about equity, diversity and inclusion in STEMM, and is very active in the science and health policy scene in Canada.
