Meisha Khan, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Genetics, University of California, San Diego, USA

Meisha Khan recently earned her master’s degree in Biology after graduating from the contiguous BS/MS Biological Sciences program at University of California, San Diego. Being particularly fascinated by regenerative medicine and immunotherapy, Meisha had the good fortune of completing her research-based studies at Dr. Stephanie Cherqui’s lab, where they investigate the cellular and molecular underpinnings of stem cell-based therapies for cystinosis. Meisha specifically examined the clinical consequences following elimination of macrophage polarization-directing metabolic gene Shpk on the efficacy of a macrophage-derived tunneling nanotube-mediated HSPC transplantation therapy for cystinosis. Meisha is excited to be sharing her work and looks forward to engaging in the impassioned studies that will be presented at the Dublin Cystinosis Workshop 2020.
