Dr Laura Rita Rega received her BSc degree in Biotechnological Sciences in October 2005 and MSc Specialization in Medical Biotechnology in July 2007 at the University of Naples “Federico II”. She got her PhD in Life Sciences in January 2013 in the laboratory of Prof Maria Antonietta De Matteis at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine, Naples. Subsequently she moved in the laboratory of Prof Francesco Emma at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital and Research Institute, Rome. She currently collaborates on projects aimed at developing better therapies for nephropathic cystinosis. She recently tested promising compounds on murine models of cystinosis.
