I come from County Clare which is in the west of Ireland. At the moment I live in Dublin. I am a medical graduate of the National University of Ireland Galway. I  have worked as a medical assessor at the Health Products Regulatory Authority since 2010 and I have been the Irish member of the Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products since 2011. In my work at the HPRA I assess applications for authorisation of new medicines both at a national level and on behalf of the EU as well as applications for the authorisation of clinical trials. Prior to taking up my post at the HPRA I had worked in London as a consultant in public health medicine and in the southeast of England during my training rotation in public health medicine.
